shaped plate relief
I cut a copper printing plate with a jeweler’s saw or create atwork for a waterjet cutter to render the intended shape. The
plate is inked with relief ink and printed under high pressure on an intaglio
press to create a tactile embossing on the paper, filled with the chosen ink
color.
|
multiplate intaglio
Traditionally-etched plates are used to create color separations, which are then
printed on top of one another to make a multicolor imprint. Sometimes I use
colors of mixed inks, sometimes I use commercial process ink colors to attempt
to create “full color” images. Intaglio is not meant for process work, but the results are usually
quite interesting

woodcut
I use woodcutting tool s to shave away white areas in a piece of birch-faced
plywood. The areas left untouched accept the ink and print black.
